  • Indigo:
Indigo is deep blue dye made from the indigo plant through a long and laborious process. The pea-like plants were fermented in great open vats, and the dye was extracted. Indigo was used mostly for dyeing textiles. Many now believe indigo processing was toxic to indigo workers.
