  • Oppression:
    Excecising power in a harsh, cruel or unwanted way.
  • Outward Passage :
    This refers to the first stage in the transatlantic slave trade. Ships carrying goods were sent to the West African coast to trade for captured Africans
  • Overseer :
    Someone who keeps watch over and directs the work of others. On a plantation this would be the manager who was paid a wage to organise the work of the slaves.
