  • Caribbean:
    The islands off the east coast of North, Central and South America that were called the West Indies by Columbus
  • Smuggle:
    To bring in or take out illicitly, or by stealth, regardless of lawful customs. After the 1807 act, many Africans were still taken illegally to the West Indies
  • Smuggler:
    A person engaged in the unlawful or illicit transport of goods or people into a country. After the 1807 act, many Africans were still taken illegally to the West Indies

    The islands of the Caribbean (so called as Columbus thought he had reached India)
